ABOUT ME
Hi, I’m Dana, I’m from the United States but have lived 15 years in Ecuador. Over the years I have studied Psychology (BS), International Development (MA), and Social Sciences (PhD) in university settings. In other spaces I’ve learned hatha raja yoga; craniosacral therapy and the polyvagal system, family constellations therapy, pre- and perinatal psychology, and dance.
It was my dissertation research on consciousness creation in activists that led to my desire to facilitate healing spaces for those committed to social & environmental justice. I observed how often they experience violence and the negative impact on them, their families and organizations. I saw how healing is not only necessary for individuals but also organizations to flourish.
Part of this healing is putting back together what western society has told us is separate - mind and body, humanity and the rest of nature. I see this return to wholeness as a movement toward our essence and wellbeing.
The Triskele
I have been drawn to the triskele, a sacred image from my Celtic ancestors, for years. I appreciate the beauty and movement of the spiral, the symbolism of the trinity: body-mind-spirit, life-death-rebirth, past-present-future, among others.
In this image I also see the expansion and contraction of life, the universe and the body. I see the movement between looking inward at individual processes and looking outward at social and collective processes; the search for balance and beauty in this movement essential to life.
Underpinning all I do is a desire to put back together what we have been taught is separate: mind and body, individual and community, humanity and the Earth.
